Exchange Rates
Not sure what to do... Ive noticed the exchange rate has dropped quite a bit the last few months... should we wait and hold off for it possibly going back or can we exchange money in Florida and would this be better for us to do so! not sure what to do, fingers crossed it goes back up!

It really is difficult to know whether to buy dollars now or wait in the hope that they will go up, but the one thing I do know is that you will get a better rate here than in Florida. They give a very poor exchange rate in Florida.

They seem to be on a downward trend
We travel in May and have a Halifax Clarity credit card. You can withdraw cash from an atm over there with no charges or commission and you get the real mastercard exchange rate. You can see what this is on mastercards website, google mastercard exchange rate... Currently its 1.5186 which beats the best rate you'll get elsewhere. As long as you pay the card off in full, its the best option and hassle free. You can withdraw only what you need whilst on your holiday just as you would at home... |

My personal opinion is that if you are going anytime after May then I would hold off as the general election will have some sort of bearing on it I reckon, you will also have results of Q1 GDP which may have a bearing on it. The rate is pretty low just now and only just 7c above the 10 year low. That said nothing is certain.
People need to make their own call ultimately but personally I don't think it can go that much lower. |

If you see a rate that you are happy enough with go for it. If it was easy to know what will happen the we would be millionaires... Will the rate go up? Will the rate go down?
Do you really want to spend holiday time exchanging money in Florida? The USA is really only interested in $ and offer fairly poor exchange rates for other currency. |
