I say watch them all when you visit the parks there are different things around the harry potter part that you wont know what they are for if you dont watch them.

Definatly watch them but do read the books. My DS(8) loves the films and I have just started reading philosophers stone with him and he is hooked , which pleases me as I love them.

If you don't fancy reading the books what about getting them on audiobooks? I put one on when I'm out a walk (trying the exercise thing) and I don't even realise that I've been walking for a hour.

Yes carry on and yes please read the books! The books are just amazing and so many more things happen in them. The films are great and do get better as they go along but the books are just so much better!

I'm probably one of the few that thought the books were only okay and thought the films were better.

I was surprised that the Harry Potter books did so well. I'm glad they did do well - they caused a resurgence of interest in fantasy novels - but I never found them that amazing. Although, having said that, Snape's story and character were excellent.

If you liked the first film then I think you'll also enjoy the others.

The same can be said for Harry Potter. I couldn't understand the hype. I've always refused to read the books and watch the movies as I don't like to follow the crowd, I like to be my own person, do my own thing...

Well... what a numpty move that was! I decided to watch the 1st movie (The Philosopher's Stone) over Christmas, as I am going to Orlando in July and felt it would do me good to get an idea of the World of HP, before visiting Universal... and I LOVED it!

So, the question is...do I carry on with the rest? I recorded them on on my Virgin Tivo box over Christmas. Is it worth sticking all the way through, or shall I just watch a couple more to get clued in to what is likely to be at Universal?

Any thoughts appreciated!

Chris.

YES! They get so much better! Although the third is my fave

UPDATE: Thanks for all the replies!

I'm glad to say that I DID continue to watch the films and have now watched the first 4.

I enjoyed the first 3 very much, with Azkaban being my favourite of the 3.

Number 4, though...the Goblet of Fire... Well. I had to google the plotline after it had finished as i just didn't get it! My least favourite so far, but i will stick with the others as all of you have said they get better and better, so i'll trust you..

I apologise in advance because I've not read al the replies.

I was a bit like you. I had never read the books but was working away on business in Truro one week and fancied going to the cinema. The only thing showing that fitted my timings was the first HP movie so in I went!

I loved it! But that was the only one I saw at the cinema -they rest I saw on bluray.

I would say stick with it but note that about half way through the series they do become slightly darker in storylines.

I couldn't watch them back to back though.

I've only read the first book and can't find anything in the book that I thought would have been good to have in the film. There were differences but on thinking of them I think I preferred the film version better.

As such I've not read the other books.

Can someone who has read the phil stone tell me what's missing from the movie version?

cheers,

Jas
