Have Virgin officially announced not flying til October?

We we're due to go Sept 6th. Only paid deposit, haven't paid balance. Waiting 2 months on for a reschedule phone call, but nothing. We now dont want to go til 2022 but I'm wondering if I would get my deposit back if flights were officially cancelled, though I've seen no dates given. I'm reluctant to try and get hold of them in case telling them we dont want to go forfeits my deposit. Should I still wait for them to cancel to have a chance of getting the deposit back?

If the flights are cancelled then you will be entitled to a refund. Have you checked to see if your flight is still going?

Given you've only paid a deposit, I'm guessing that means you booked a holiday. If so, whilst unlikely it is possibly you have been put on an equivalent flight with a different carrier. If you fall in to that scenario, you are not entitled to a refund. If however you have not been put on another flight, then yes your holiday is cancelled and you would be due a refund.

Just had an email this morning confirming that our Oct 11th flight from Heathrow to Miami has been cancelled so now starts the long wait for a refund from them. If I was more confident of them being around this time next year then I'd take up their offer to hold the money for us to put towards flights next year. But I am going to request a refund so I can rebook with whoever has the best price next year.

The email did say that the cancellation will be actioned at the weekend so if I check my flights before then they may not show as cancelled. Maybe that goes for the online booking tool as well? Although why they would still be allowing that flight to be booked when they know it's going to be cancelled in the next few days is a bit of a puzzle!
