Gatwick South Terminal Hotel and Parking

First time travelling from Gatwick in over a decade, does anyone have any recommendations for a cheap ish hotel and reasonable parking?

Premier Inn is at North terminal but is 2 or 3 minute shuttle to South. They have some good deals.

Last year we used Cophall Parking. Reasonable price and friendly service. We've booked them again this year.

Some thoughts from the same hotel question today.

Can't advise on cheap parking I'm afraid. It suits us because of age and mobility (and returning with two 23kg cases each ) to valet park in one of the official multi-storeys attached to either terminal.

We used Gatwick Long Stay last time, was way cheaper than some of the off-site car parks. Also used Premier Inn North, was a great hotel and only a couple of minutes transfer back to the South

surely just use a site like holiday extras and it throws up all the comparisons.

i would say be careful of hotels offsite as you may need to add on a transfer cost, not all are included.

Yes only problem is I have stayed in some dreadful airport hotels, actually hotels in general and I like to get opinions of people I trust rather than potentially bogus online reviews. So whole there are a couple of hotels I have found I would like to see if there are others that people have used that are particularly good for the price. We had a dreadful stay last year actually and while the site reviews were reasonable we were pretty horrified at how filthy it was and the breakfast well let's just say not again! So while it's a bargain I wouldn't stay there again or recommend no matter the other reasonable reviews.

For parking you hear horror stories fairly frequently and I witnessed a crash involving a valet parking service and another car on our return last year so I know who I trust at LHR but not at LGW so would like the advice of those more experienced. Especially as Gateick long stay is coming out much more expensive than expected. North is cheaper but I wssnt sure how easy it would then be to get to south terminal.

Your parking horror stories are the reason I now park myself in the official long-stay car park and take my keys with me. I don't really want anyone else driving my car and parking it in god know's where

we used the drop off service, sorry can't remember name but you book and they meet you in the Orange car park, take your keys, give you a card and when you return you call them and 20 mins later they have your car back.

anyway, watched my dashcam footage and they take it for what must be a 10 mile drive out to a makeshift carpark in a field and although they drive it carefully (ish) it seems a hell of a trek!

Yes that's what worries me, we did park ourselves at long stay last year and its definitely my preference but so expensive for south!

This is what worries me because the further they drive it the higher chance of an issue of any kind. But also what sort of security does the field have... I'm wary so will stick to a park myself car park I think.
