Booking flights for 2021
Hi, we are new to DVC - well
we bought 2 years ago after many years of deliberating but haven’t been as yet as our 1st trip would have been April 2020. We’d previously always done package hols with TUI and stayed onsite. Wondered what people thoughts are re booking flights given current situation plus past experience. We booked TUI for this year and have received full refund directly from them - though it would’ve been covered on insurance if they didn’t pay out. We paid what, on reflection is a ridiculous amount so we could book as soon as flights available and remove worry of not getting what we need, we also paid for premium. rebooked DVC for Easter next year - yes expensive time to go but we are limited as daughter in year 10. Struggling to decide what to about flights! Prices are high currently, and doesn’t look many flights available - though we’ve only looked at tui direct. Am wary to book as insurance won’t cover cv19 and there are other considerations, such as Florida increasing infection rates, flight companies going bust, not sure if that would be covered on insurance if cause is cv19. Just wondered what other people were doing and their thought processes? Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks |

I’m feeling the same as you, although booked our DVC for after Easter (our kids have left home now). I think we will wait and perhaps book around Christmas when we know a bit more regarding COVID insurance and what’s happening with the virus. Just had our virgin flight refund today after waiting 94 days since cancellation so can’t face that battle again!

Glad you’ve got your refund through. TUI were quite good for ours, took about a month.
Think we will do the same and wait til December, take our chances with what is available then |

We booked for Easter 2021 a few weeks ago. We were also due to go this year for our first DVC stay.
This time we’re flying into Miami with Virgin and driving up. It was considerably cheaper than the MCO flights. So much so we managed to get economy delight out and upper class back for about the same as an economy round trip to MCO. If you don’t mind the drive it’s worth checking out. If you pay by credit card you should be covered. |

Thank you Carli_h. We hadn’t thought of doing Miami but that might be an option. Might even be able to stay in Miami for a few days using the points we will have to transfer to RCI rather than lose (we’ve a Feb use year so they’ll not last til our rearranged trip!). Really appreciate the suggestion, and fingers crossed for April 2021
