Food in Suitcases
just wandering whether any of you have carried food in your suit case, if so have you declared it?
Was thinking of taking box of cereal bars for those early morning starts where you just want to get out the door! |

Hi,
Which direction are you referring to? If it to young out to the us, most processed foods are allowed, but you must declare them on your customs form. Then there will be no problem. Do a search on google and you can find the list of disallowed foods. On the way home to the uk, we bring sweets and spices etc and have never filled in any forms and never had a problem. Hope this helps a bit. |

Strongly advise you to declare as you could get a big fine if u don't...
I intend to take a couple bits - mcvities mini cheddars (as cldnt get any there and I don't eat crisps) and tea bags and I will declare. And will take some chocolate as theirs just doesn't taste the same... |

We put ours in the suitcase. Last year I printed a list of what we had in the case. The customs guys were highly amused but we got through with only a minute or two delay. It's not a problem.

we always take food over as we have friends that live there that send us a list of requests before we go, mostly chocolate which I pack in a cool bag in the case and it always gets there ok. One year we took Easter Eggs but they did suffer from the heat a little before we could get them in a fridge, but also chicken crisps/cheese and onion crisps, tea bags and brown sauce lol
Always declare food and remember no meat or fresh fruit or Veg. I have no problem taking things over as it means I have more room to bring things home M&M's of various flavours, BBQ rubs, soft batch cookies and the list continues... lol |
