How long can you last...
Ok so this is a situation where OH and I differ!
So the scenario is that you are sat talking to your OH with your phone's face down and then all of a sudden your phone buzzes with a notification How long can you leave it before you can resist the urge to pick it up and see what th3 notification is ? I'm not going to do a poll but I reckon I can leave it 30 minutes maybe more. If it's urgent someone will ring me. But what about you ?

I can wait hours, nothing is so important, people can phone if it is!
I really object to people fiddling with phones when you are conversing particularly if you are talking or doing something with children. Do not look at your phone at my dining table, if you need to then go out of the room. I have seen families on holiday who sit down to eat together and never speak with their children, they constantly study their phones. WHY! |

If we're all together then I can leave it indefinitely, if not then I'll look when I get a chance. My phone doesn't phase me to that extent but it is the way that the 'kids' will contact me if they need me.
If someone fiddles with their phone when I"m talking to them, I phone them. Gets the message across nicely.

I would leave it until I'd finished my conversation with OH, which could be anytime from 5 minutes to 5 hours and then some! As you say, if it's important they'll ring.

I've done something similar in Domino's Pizza. Waited patiently at the counter for a good 10 minutes whilst the staff kept answering the phone and ignoring the large queue in front of them. So I just called, and when they answered waved at them and said hi! The queue was quickly served at this point.

I would look at it within a minute lol, but only because my daughter is living in Orlando , before she went I left my mobile switched off mostly and never bothered with it much. When she's back I look forward to reverting back to my old ways 😀

Don’t bother with my phone, it can be dead in my bag for all I care. I pads different I would check messenger if I got a notification incase one of kids wanted something. I sometimes see who its from and only answer if I can be bothered to chat x

Depends - if the kids (16/18) were out I'd pick it up.
If we are all home I'd leave it unless I get a notification storm (3 in quick succession) then I know it is urgent, or my mum wants something - she is deaf so wouldn't ring unless I don't pick up - then she will ring and shout down the phone for me to look at my messages. We have a no phones at the table rule and no phones overnight rule. So, luckily my girls have grown up without the umbilical cord attachment that some have. |

I would check if it could be from the children or their school/clubs.
My children are not permitted electronics at the table but I am! If we are having a chat and do not know or agree the answer, Google is our friend. Helps when discussing school projects. No games or emails. |

When I am with all the kids I tend to leave my phone in my bag, if not I always check who it's from.
