DLP for two nights - suggestions/ideas for a limited itinerary?

Morning fellow Dibbers

We're veterans of Florida, and love the planning at 180days/60 days etc.

We have an upcoming trip to DLP towards the end of the month, and despite one previous visit (five years ago), I'm at a complete loss as to planning or what to expect, to the point we're almost gonna be winging it...

The trip's for our little one's stage school having a performance there, which is a massive opportunity for her and the reason for going; but it obviously offers some planning limitations.

Looking for ideas, anything off the cuff we could fit in.

Itinerary thus-far is:

Land CDG Friday morning, get to DLP late morning, check in at the Santa Fe (they'll stash our bags if the room ain't ready) late morning?

Park afternoon/evening, no meal booked, but we're looking to a walk in at Rainforest Café.

Sat morning we lose tyke to the singing group, and her performance is scheduled mid-day; that's obviously why we're there, so hoping (probably forlornly!) that group parents have somewhere set to view, else we'll limit our morning activities and get to the show area in plenty of time to watch.

Sat afternoon/evening, parks again with a dining reservation at Bistrot Chez Remy.

Sun morning character breakfast, and maybe a couple hours in the parks before an afternoon flight home.

So looking for stuff to "fit in" to the two afternoon/evening slots?

It's Legends of the Force, and tyke's a big Star Wars fan, so something Star Wars would be cool; she's also my rollercoaster buddy in Florida, so R'n'R, BTMRR are a must. Is there a Star Wars coaster/thrill ride?

A friend's recommended Magical Mickey, so we want to fit that in, and also wants photographic evidence of a stein at Ludwig's Castle (apparently happy hour is 5 - 7; can you go there just for drinks/nibbles, or does it have to be a full on meal?).

No dining plan, all meals OoP, and we'd be looking at the likes of Earl of Sandwich (favourite from Springs) or the equivalent of QSDP places (I believe there's a Casey's Corner, but have also had Agrabah recommended for a lunch buffet?) for lunches.

Any comments/ideas/thoughts much appreciated, TiA

Your plan sounds good - I haven't been over a weekend (where I believe it's a bit busier) or for Star Wars season, but will try and answer a few of your questions.

Rainforest cafe is a good shout, as is Chez Remy - it is a brilliant restaurant both in terms of theming and food.

King Ludwigs you can defo have just drinks if you want, certainly in the front part where the actual bar is, I'm not too sure about right inside the main bit, that might be for meals only.

For QS places, Caseys is good, as is Hakuna matata in adventureland - it does nice chicken. QS in DLP isn't great in general, it's often really slow and not that hot when you get it. EoS is definitely much better but I don't know that I would bother leaving the park for it if that makes sense.

I'm guessing you mean the Mickey and the Magician show? If so, then it is amazing! If time allows then defo try and see it.

There's Star Wars Hyperspace mountain in Discoveryland. Other thrill rides worth checking out are Indiana Jones, Crushes coaster, and also RC racer!

It’s so different from planning a Florida / Orlando holiday. Apart from a couple of restaurant reservations we are just winging it.

As well as Hyperspace Mountain there is also Star Tours and a meet Darth Vader in Discoveryland.

All the Season of the Force stuff is in the Studios - there's a chance to meet Chewbacca there as well as shows throughout the day.

I'd say your plan is already pretty good - you really don't need ot have that much of an idea of what you want to do in DLP so winging it is usually fine!

Guessing that your Daughter's show will be in the Videopolis theatre they normally reserve the front section of seats for family and friends to watch so you shouldn't have to get there too early.

Your itinerary is *very* similar to ours for our trip in a couple of weeks. We land on Thursday morning and effectively have the day to ourselves. On Friday our little one is off doing a Disney workshop from early followed by a show at noon ish. Our dance troupe leader has organised a meal together for everyone that evening.

We’ll then spend Saturday doing whatever we want

For the morning that me and the missus are alone we’re planning on doing the studios to try and catch Crush’s coaster and ratatouille

We’re hoping to leave Saturday for stuff we won’t really need to queue for like the Labyrinths and Skull Island etc

Thanks for the replies folks, much appreciated

Just YouTubed Ratatouille, looks cool.

Chewie is Tyke's favourite, but we've met him twice in successive Florida visits (we were Star Wars Family of the Day in our summer '16 trip... Most cool), so dependant on queues, may sacrifice that for rides.
Hyperspace Mountain will obviously be new to us, and we've done Star Tours in Orlando, but it's certainly worth a revisit.
Is the fast pass system still the same as Florida of old, tap your park ticket at a station and come back later?

personally, dont bother eating on the friday and be a hardcore group who wet their pants rather than waste time with loos. Do all the rides you can: queues at weekends are bad as DLP caters for annual pass holders (who descend on weekends).

For saturday, be at the studios for rope drop (really at rope drop) then RUUUUUUUN to crush coaster, followed by fastpass at ratatouille. Feel free to calm down in toy story land if you have time before your event. After the show you attend or in the afternoon you can pop back to the park and take in the parades or try and get a fast pass somewhere, when it goes dark you will find the likes of discoveryland getting emptier - this is the time to get on autopia and orbitron. Buzz becomes walk on and even space mountain gets empty.

seriously though, screw eating if you only have a day and a half, too much fun to be had. Live on cereal bars :-)
