I remember Duty Free and Hi De Hi from my childhood. And more recently I’ve watched Open All Hours.

Comedy is a strange concept, when I now watch some of the laugh out loud programmes from years ago I don’t even raise a smile - in fact most are cringeworthy. Some of it is because my tastes and attitudes have changed and some of the old sitcoms are now deemed distinctly racist, sexist, ageist, homophobic, etc. - or simply corny.
There are some notable exceptions that have stood the test of time (IMO) and are still aired on mainstream TV eg Dad’s Army.

I’m a miserable Minnie, don’t find any sitcoms amusing !

I loved the Two Ronnies for their amazing sketches. I like Michael McIntyre as a stand-up but don’t like the other bits in his show such as other acts, the mobile phone palava etc. I watch a few minutes of Mrs Brown just for the shock laughs but don’t follow the plot.

Can't believe this got to page 4 until someone mentioned Fawlty Towers... !
I'm having fun looking at the posts and guessing the approximate age of the post(ers) based on the shows mentioned.
Fwiw - Mine would include Mash, Happy Days, Mork and Mindy, Fawlty Towers, soap and Only Fools and Horses

If anyone’s interested itv3 are doing classic Emmerdale and Corrie at the moment, emmerdale is great to watch with Seth and the 2 fellas that had the woolpack

Just good friends,
To the manor born,
The likely lads
On the buses
Love the neighbour
A fine romance .
Sorry
George and Mildred.
Butterflies
Man about the house
Rising damp
Cuckoo waltz
Robins nest

Also morcambe and wise and the two ronnies

It’s a bit like comedy films now, I don’t find many very funny. And I’d be hard pressed to point out a British made comedy show that I like We are watching Catastrophe at the moment which is okay, but like a lot of comedies now -yep I’m grey and old- seems to be based around sex and saying buggar bum.

I do like Big Bang theory.

I still find “Yes Minister” and “Yes Prime Minister“ funny and very cleverly scripted.

I grew up watching

Mr Bean
Porridge
Blackadder (parents were huge fans, my childhood dog was called Baldrick)
Only Fools and Horses
Bread
Fawlty Towers
Roseanne
MST3K (although there’s newer episodes, you just don’t see the older ones)
Dad’s Army
The Young Ones (once I got more into my teens)
Some Mothers Do ‘Ave Em

All of which are a little bit (a lot) before my time.
