Heading into the Sunset Day 11 - MK And Liberty Tree Tavern
Weather today mid 80s cloudy then sunny and dry This morning, David, Jo and Jack were heading off to Cocoa Beach for the day so they set off soon after getting up, they would have breakfast on the way. We decided to have a lazy morning and stay late at MK for Wishes. We had croissants and fruit round the pool and stayed there until late morning, just nipping in to see to washing which I put on. While we were outside we watched 2 pairs of eagles flying over and around the lake - they were a magnificent sight. We arrived at MK, parking in Hook car park, at 12 o'clock and found the crowds to be quite low. We slowly walked up Main Street looking in shop windows and enjoying seeing the Fire Chief on his engine. We noticed that the bakery was closed which was a shame, no cinnamon roll from there this year! The Castle Show was in full swing, so we stood and watched it, before going round to get a FP for Big Thunder Mountain, and then onto Pirates which was a walk on. We went through to my favourite part of the park - Liberty Square to find the Haunted Mansion with a 10mins wait so of course that was next. It took longer than usual as it stopped 3 times during the ride, this does spoil it a bit but not too much. When we came off, we spotted Liberty Tree Tavern, so asked if there was any chance of a table. We were told it would be about 30 mins, so sat and people watched in the cool lobby until we were called. I much prefer the lunch menu here, as I love the pot roast :-). We had Sandy as a server and ordered 2 Pot Roasts and a Liberty Sandwich (minus the mushrooms), followed by 2 Gooey Toffee cakes, a Seasonal Crisp and unending soft drinks. The service was great, as ever, and the bill was $86.71 + a tip. We've never been disappointed at LTT. Of course, just nearby is the Christmas shop, so I was forced to buy yet another decoration and before we left the area we went into the Hall of Presidents as it was just starting. It was time for our FP for BTM, and we were entertained by the Marching Band as we walked over there. It was another walk on and a fab ride as always. After this we found a spot in Frontierland to watch the parade; luckily we're all tall so could see quite well; before going into Fantasyland where we got FPs for the Little Mermaid ride, and went on Small World - yes we're the people that like it - Philharmagic and through into new FL for Dumbo and to use our FPs. The whole area is beautifully themed, especially the beasts castle and mermaid areas, and as always we loved all the details. This is why we prefer Disney to other theme parks, the whole visit is immersive and the attention to detail is unreal. I love the Storybook Circus tent theming too. We passed a man wearing a turkey hat, he looked exactly like Mr Bean when he got his head stuck up a turkey :-). We wanted to make our way round to Main Street, so ended up in Tomorrowland first, where we went on Buzz Lightyear, then rested our feet on the TTA before the Electrical Parade was due to start at 9pm. Again our height helped, as we didn't get there soon enough to get front places. When it was over we hung around Main Street, hoping to get a snack, but there was a limited selection due to the closed bakery, and very long queues everywhere else. We found a decent spot for the light show on the castle at 9.50 followed by Wishes at 10pm. Well what can I say about the whole thing? It was fabulous, emotional and unforgettable. It was only marred by inconsiderate people holding iPads up to film it. Then of course, we had to get back to the carpark, and that journey is best not described :-). Once safely in the car, we drove home, arriving about the same time as the seasiders who had also had a great day. We were all shattered and slept like logs.

We have Liberty Tree on our list for June - we were trying to remember last night when we had last eaten there and it has been a while even though we liked the food.
