Moped accident
You might recall me asking about mopeds here, well my DS16 got one (against our wishes) and yesterday while writing Christmas cards I got a call from an unknown number and a lady telling me he had been in an accident - the call I had always been dreading!
A car had not seen him, pulled out, causing him to go into the car. Ambulance and police were called, he is fine, bad bruises swelling to ankle, and gashed leg, mostly very shook up, and not planning to have a bike again... (its written bike off anyway!) we had said to be careful as people have got ‘Christmas brain’ at this time of year. I actually got a hug from him willingly so wasnt all bad just very scary. Am going to be taxi mum until April when he can start driving cars.

It's a horrible feeling when your child is involved in an accident.
So glad he's ok though but it really does shake you up.

Sorry to hear this, bit pleased that it was mostly superficial.
These things tend to focus the mind on whats important and the hug is testament to that theory. Mums taxi will be clocking up many fares, but hey ho, we all do it. I did. Have a great family Xmas together. Disney332

Glad he’s ok, I hate mopeds and motorbikes. We had a crash in Corfu when we were young. He’ll be ok with his lovely mum looking after him x

Glad he is ok. What a shock for you all. I bet he is really sore bless him, ouch. I’m dreading the moped subject with my DS’s I’ve got a year or so until it crops up.

Oh Louise so glad though it's nothing too serious, I can only imagine how you felt when you got the call. Megs been driving for nearly 2 years now I still shout out as she leaves to go careful, not doubting her driving but wanting her to be vigilant especially like you say this time of year everyone wants to be where they are going 5 minutes faster. Treasure the hug... They need us even if they don't always show it xxx

My dad lost his leg in a motorbike accident at the exact same age, and nearly died, so have always had massive fear of bikes. His friends have all come to similar conclusion that the bikes need to go, as most of them have also had near misses. They always seem to have to learn the hard way! 😩
I went in just to hear him breathing this morning

I loathe bikes. Not the fact they are out there but the fact my Son had one.
I breathed a sigh of relief when he sold it. Normally it’s the other drivers who cause the issue as they don't see the bike rider. In my experience the vast majority of riders are very proficient and in control of their machine. Glad your Son is ok. Best wishes

Glad it isn't worse and it's put him off ever having a bike again! You will be the happiest Mum's Taxi ever!
