I remember being asked if he was a danger to himself or others, this was by Nationwide. Lucky for us he isn't. We didn't have any extra to pay

I’m just wondering why some companies won’t cover for it and other companies will cover but for an added premium , I’m not disputing what you are saying but my policy clearly states that they will not cover if you are undergoing any tests and do not have a diagnosis .most companies have the same exclusions .

You should ring the insurers and ask what is required to be disclosed for their policy. You should take a careful note of the name of the person you speak to too.

My insurers who are attached to my bank account require anything you’ve consulted a gp about in the 12 months prior to travel plus any long term diagnosed conditions.

They then confirm in writing that they are providing cover for these.

Autism at both diagnosis and investigation stage requires disclosure imo. If you do not, you need to claim and insurers access the records, they could avoid the policy for non disclosure...even if the claim has nothing to do with autism.

My insurers were happy to cover at no additional cost because it brings no additional expense risk to them. They are a 5 star de faqcto rated company. You need to look for quality insurers rather than cheaper insurers when you have stuff to disclose
