Nagoya
We travelled to Nagoya on the Shinkansen. After checking into the hotel, we visited some markets to look at traditional Japanese shops. We came across an ice-cream shop from Kyoto that we had also seen in Tokyo. We had never had rolled ice cream before... and it was amazing! They made it right in front of us on an ice plate. So yummy We had chocolate, cookies and cream, and strawberry. We stopped for lunch - a traditional bowl of japanese ramen. Whilst out, we went into a bar that had a photo of my dad on the wall from when he worked out there at the Toyota plant. The owner then took a photo of us and added it to the collection of photos on the wall. The bar was located in Toyota City. When headed back to the hotel and changed for the evening. For dinner, I had a katsu pork cutlet with pickled vegetables. This was nice and tasty but a little dry. Some of us had wagyu beef which was brought to the table to cook yourself - we loved this. Wagyu beef is incredible, never tasted steak so tender. The night was finished in a local bar having some beer and Sake

Oh I am loving this report. My DD is obsessed with Japan and I would love to take her someday. The only thing that she doesn't love is the food (she's autistic). The rest of us all love it, especially eldest DS. Can't wait to read more.

Another brilliant day. My DD had the rolled ice cream in Vietnam this summer, it was delicious and such fun to see them prepare it in front of us.
The food looks incredible especially the steak 😀 We also visited a bbq cook your own food restaurant in Vietnam and loved this style of eating, it was so sociable. |

Thank you for reading!
Disney did cater for all diets and cultures and still had options such as fries, burgers and nuggets. In Tokyo itself, there is still restaurants such as TGI Fridays and the Hard Rock Cafe etc. The only places that had little western food was Nagoya and Kyoto. However, we did really enjoy all the food we had!

Kyoto Day 1
I finally got into the habit of taking pictures of all the food now. Apologies for not including all the meals we ate at the start. I bought a bento box for the shinkansen to travel from Nagoya to Kyoto. The bento boxes that you could buy were incredible. I got a teriyaki chicken box with a lemon beer. The beer was very strong and I struggled to drink it but the box was delicious and tasted fresh. After checking in at our Kyoto hotel, we headed straight out to see some of the famous temples and shrines. We first went to the golden temple - Kinkaku-ji This was breathtaking... Whilst there, I had a green tea flavoured ice cream with fake gold dust - such a fab idea. We also visited the Geisha village and looked around... Kyoto is such an amazing place with so much culture and traditional buildings. For dinner, we had teppanyaki. This was by far the best meal of the trip. The restaurant was small but the chef was amazing. We basically ordered the whole menu... including wagyu beef, octopus, prawns, tofu, rice and vegetables. Everything was delicious. We were so full and decided to call it a night. A fabulous end to an amazing day
