I have been subbing drinks for sides at por and pofq with no problems.

I'll be using QS for the first time this year too and I'm confused. Say if I have breakfast at my resort, I'll obviously get my drinks in with it so can I substitute that drink for something else and still have my credits for the day or have I got that totally wrong?

If having breakfast in the resort I would get a bottled drink and take it into the parks, that would save a snack credit later in the morning for a drink.

Brilliant thanks, I'll do that.

We're here now, tomorrow is our last day *sob*.
We stayed at CBR last week with QSDP. At the hotel, we used the refillable mugs and swapped our drinks for snacks (including sweets, ice-creams, soups etc) with no problem. It seemed to be expected. We also swapped a QS for 3 snacks there.
In the parks it was a bit of a lottery; some places said no substitutions, some would allow us to have a side but not a snack, others let us swap a drink for any side or snack.
To put your minds at rest, we had far more food than we could eat (even if it was predominantly beige). The only money we spent was on 2 ice cold beers 😉. Many snacks were too big for us to manage on our own so we often shared as I hate wasting anything.
Consequently, on our last day, we used snack credits and QS credits to buy a couple of dozen assorted sweets, pez, cookie boxes and lollipops.
We should have brought a bigger case...

I'll report back from Saratoga Springs next week, we travel out Sunday but have a couple of nights without dining plan and tickets at POFQ first. We have the dining plan not quick service as we're doing 5 signatures, i'm looking at ways to maximise my QS credits.

To be fair, it's not all beige. The spectrum of artificial colourings on offer is a feast for the eyes. And that's just the breakfast cereal.

I looked at the leaflet a few days ago direct from the Disney website and it said you could substitute.
