Looks like at the moment it's 5 or 6 days before the flight going by what people are saying.

We are flying with BA on the 15th and have not been allocated seats yet. However, most of the seats available for selection disappeared overnight, so they must have allocated some seats to some groups already.

I am slightly concerned that they forgot us, but will check again tomorrow.

Do you get an email notification when they allocate seats?

They don't email or notify you at all. Just keep checking Manage My Booking from 7 days to go. If you don't have seats allocated with only 3 days left get in touch with them. In 4 trips it only happened once and our youngest was 11, coming up on 12 so possibly just an oversight. We've seen ours allocated at 7 days on one trip but nearer the 3 day mark on another. This year our kids were too old to get the family seating allocated and we still got seats together at online check in.

6 days before our flight and I'm now on the daily check. No seats seem to have disappeared yet so it might be a few days yet.

Ours were allocated overnight. So 6 days prior to the flight.

We have 6 seats in a row towards the front. Happy with that

They say they'll allocate families with under 12s at three days before flying I think. But seems to be anywhere from 6 to 3 days.

Saved us nearly £250 on the outward leg alone. Its 4 adults and 2 children (3 and 6).

Bear in mind that they don't have to allocate seats together for all in the party. Just need to put at least one adult with an under 12.

We saved £210 on our seats going out. We got better seats than if we'd have paid for them up front.
