Kids Spending Money

Sorry if this has been asked before, i did a quick search and couldn't find much.

This will be my DS's (he's 6) first trip to Florida, it's his first proper holiday really, so i've never had to think about spending money before. I've been saving for him, but just wondered how much your kids usually take?

at that age we gave our kids $100 when that was gone it was gone, i think its important to have a budget as there are many gifts shops hehe, they were very careful about what they spent it on, we did however have to return to the shops they wanted to at the end of the holiday to get there stuff they had chosen

Ours are a bit older - youngest is 11. But they have £250 each that they have saved. Similar to previous post, they know when it is gone that's it and we have advised them not to buy the first thing they see and to shop around.

When we have been previously the kids have known about our holidays so have asked people for $ as their birthday/xmas presents. Last time they had quite a bit each.
Next year I am not sure what I will do as the youngest will be 4 and will probably want to buy everything she sets her eyes on
I think sticking to a daily budget for them might be a good idea.

Cool, thanks for your help. I should have enough saved for him. I was planning on giving him a daily budget so hopefully he won't go mad in the first few days!

Thank you!

One more question, do you get their money in cash or do you put it on a card for them, like a fairfx one?

Ours all have their individual budget, last year was $100. We kept hold of it but they all knew they had that to spend as and when they wished. They ended up spending most of it in one go when we had a day of shopping, toys r us, target and Florida mall.

Towards the end of the holiday we then bought them a couple of presents each from in the parks, things they had kept going back to so we knew they really wanted them.

My son had $150 last time we went he was nearly 4 and it was more than enough. We took it in Dollars so we could keep it separate from the rest of our spends. He was able to buy things when he wanted and stopped any pestering. We are going do the same again when we go again next year.
