Upgrade to DPP, yes or no?
We are 2 adults and 3 teenagers (14, 15, 17) and have booked CBR direct with Disney for Aug 2019 for 7 days as part of our 3 week stay. We have got free QSDP but are toying with the idea of upgrading to the full DDP to get TS meals.
So, my questions are: Is it worth the upgrade? Roughly how much this would cost for the 5 of us? Can we (the 2 adults) just upgrade? Is there a best time/way to upgrade? If we do upgrade which TS restaurants that are a must in terms of experience and food? Sorry, I know its lots of questions but I know Dibbers are the best people to ask |

Not sure of the cost so can’t advise whether it’s worth it, but everyone in your room would have to upgrade. You can’t just upgrade a couple of people, it has to be everyone on the booking.
In terms of timing the price won’t change so it doesn’t matter when you do it, you just pay the difference in cost between QS and TS. |

I would absolutely upgrade. It’s not that expensive - I think we’ve paid £75/day for 5 adults. You will also need to factor in around 18% gratuities for each meal.
The whole party has to upgrade. You can call Disney to add it on. As it increases the price of your booking there wont be an amendment fee. Everyone has their own opinions on must-do reservations - maybe read a few dining trip reports? |

As above the price remains the same so you can upgrade anytime but bearing in mine that the hard to get restaurants book out at 180 days. So if you where to decide to go for it I would before the 180 days.
We upgraded ours a little late and being a family of 6 some places it was impossible to get like Beaches & Cream. Would I upgrade again? Possibly but you do end up committing more time to food, getting to places, waiting etc. We did have some amazing QS meals which probably where better than some of the DDP meals, Wolfgang meatloaf was amazing!

Table service will take up time teenagers may not want to spend away from the parks.
It might be better to consider having a couple of meals paid out of pocket as a couple if QS would suit you better as a family... some families enjoy an evening meal sitting down and relaxing , others want to be more spontaneous. Remember on top of the cost of upgrading to DDP you'll have tips of 15-20% to pay on TS meals. ...which with five of you will add up to a fair chunk. "Worth it" is quite subjective , if you all enjoy a sit down meal as a family once a day then it probably is. If you have teens who will moan and groan they want to eat and run , not so much. Incidently the difference between a moderate with DDP added and deluxe with it already included is often tiny and gives you the advantage of a bigger room. Edited at 10:04 AM. |

My friend has upgraded from QS to TS the last 2 years and received a discount price. Both times she enquired about the price when she booked, a year out, then phoned back just before the 180 ADR window and received a discounted price with a big saving.
May be worth trying! |

I would definitely upgrade, it is £15 per day per person if you booked directly with Disney, if you booked through a travel agent they might charge a bit more. I don’t think it matters when you choose to upgrade but I would do it before 180 days to get the popular ADRs.

Not every one the same I expect that but for me I do this
1. Work out where you going to eat ie are you eating mainly on Disney are you mainly have premier meals meals that you need ADRS if you have a car use it Uber or bus world you be better off using off site places there loads out there. 2. Are your children fussy eaters let’s say you book a adr will your you husband children have enough chose ect My option for me and my partner are that I world prefer to go to a place off site then rely on eaten on Disney for us 2it worlds out better. As I said not for everyone. |
