Ticket start dates

My understanding is that if I check into a Disney hotel on say 1st of the month, my park ticket is live that day too. So if I was to stay there for 7 nights, I would check out on the 8th - would my 7 day Disney ticket work on the 8th (I would not be using it on 1st)? If not, then I assume any dining credits would not be available to spend on the 8th either, so I would need a 14 day ticket?

At US on a 2/3/5 etc... day ticket, you specify a date for the first day. So if I arrived in a US hotel on the 10th I could use it on the 11th for x days? Also, if I arrived on the 10th and checked out on 14th, I would have the express passes (if the correct hotel) for the 11, 12, 13 & 14th (and the 10th too but no use if not doing the park that day?)

Your park tickets are only activated when you enter a park for the first time.
Checking into the hotel doesn't trigger the start of your tickets

Doesn't matter what day you specify, whether Disney or US, the passes start the first time through the turnstiles. The "Start" date etc is to basically stop you/everyone from buying a 2018 pass (for instance) with no intention of using it until '19,'20...

As others have said, your ticket is activated from when you first visit a park, not when you check in. Also if I am right the ticket expires 14 days after first use, so you can use the 7 visits any time in a 14 day period, but maybe someone can confirm this.

Lyn's right it's basically 7 days of entry over 14 days, Dining credits are different as they are tied to your stay & finish at midnight on check out day. Worth noting that Disney & Universal's "14 days" differ in that at Disney it's "FROM" first use & Universal it's a straight 14 days .

Ok, that makes sense.

So DDP runs out midnight of check out.

Disney is 7 days non consecutive from start, so I could go there on Days 1, 2, 3 of holiday and (for a 7 day ticket) again on Days 9, 10, 12, 14.

For Universal, if I have a 3 day ticket and first go on Day 6, I have to go 7 and 8 too or I lose out.

That's right. I am not sure which 7 day ticket you are using but for the Disney 7 Day Magic Your Way Ticket it says the following on orlandoattractions.com.

"Ticket expires 14 days from 1st usage. Days do not have to be used consecutively. You can visit a park, leave during the day, and return to the same park in one day."

It says similar for the Disney 7 Day Ultimate ticket. Below is taken from orlandoattractiontickets.co.uk.

The Disney 7-Day Ultimate Ticket expires 14 days from first use, so the ticket does not need to be used over consecutive days.

For the Universal tickets, you can use the 3 days at anytime within a 7 day period. So, you can go on day 6, then day 8 and then day 12 if you want. The days don't have to be consecutive (although they can be, if you want).

Please note that, unlike Disney, Universal counts the first day you use the ticket as day 1 of the expiry period. In effect, the tickets are expire 6 days after the first day (if that makes sense).

We have 2019 14 day ultimate tickets linked to our magic band for next year. This August we are doing MNSSHP. If we use our magic bands to enter the MK for MNSSHP, worried it will activate the ultimate tickets we have linked for next year. Is that possible?
