Lake District/Windermere

Does anyone live in the Lake District area please and can help? DH and I are going there next month for a week, badly needed break. We’re staying at the White Cross Bay park on Lake Windermere and we have a small dog. Despite the park being dog friendly to stay, it’s not dog friendly anywhere else indoors so we feel it’s a long way to go to be stuck in our lodge for 7 days. But I wondered if there were any dibbers here who might be able to advise if there are any dog friendly places to go and visit please? Especially if the weather isn’t nice and we need to be indoors.
Thanks.

I haven’t been in a while but everywhere was dog friendly, all the pubs and some shops, the ferry Was , we walked up the waterfalls in Ambleside with the dog, up to the top of Windermere. I would wrap up warm and go, shouldnt imagine much has changed apart from wearing a mask. I absolutely loved Windermere we stayed in a small hotel with our dog and she even had breakfast with us!

We have just return from Ings near Windermere there were dog's everywhere, will say that Windermere and bowness were too busy for us. We stayed in a cottage in Ings Village there was a pub were dogs were welcome, went the Ambleside, Conison, Hawshead all had cafes, pubs and some shops were dog were welcome. We really wished that we had taken our Molly now, but we have booked again for a week next year in Ings again and she and DS are coming with us next year. We also had great weather so we did alot of walking, went to a few national trust places and the grounds were open to dogs.

It was at 35 years since we had been to the Lakes for us to book for next year says alot, we loved it, you and dog will have a great time, every village we went in had a welcoming pet shop. Can also recommend Brockhole for a visit and that was dog friendly. We only went to Windermere and Bowness once as it was too busy for us we only stayed about 1 hour in each.

The pub in Ings is The Watermill & Windermere Brewing Company the meal was great and there is a lovely walk through a gated road which was nice walk in the evening there is also a farm shop which I wished now I had visited when we first arrived as I went on the last day and brought the food home and there meat was so good. Hope that helps you a little and we are looking forward to going back next August.

The Lakeside Car Museum is dog friendly (if it’s open) I don’t live there, but have a holiday home down there so are there often.
A lot of the shops are dog friendly, as are pubs and restaurants...There’s a lovely dog friendly garden centre/gift shop type place in Grasmere, which also has a coffee shop..
You’ll have a lovely trip...it’s a great place! 👍🏻👍🏻🐶🐶

We live in the Lakes about half way between Keswick and Penrith. I cant think of many places that ARENT dog friendly. If you go to Keswick then most shops (not just pubs) will allow dogs in.

Thankyou! Do you have anywhere you would recommend for that time of year please?
