Hotel recommendations in Cancun

Hi, we are looking at going to Cancun next year but have never been before so we are looking for recommendations for hotels in Cancun, we would like a lovely beach, nearby shops and good food, we have looked at the hard rock but not sure if we are just paying for the name and there are better hotels to stay in, thank you for any help

Hard Rock is lovely but personally prefer Rivera Maya area. There's some lovely hotels, nicer beaches and shops!

My sister and her hubby went to Secrets The Vine on their honeymoon and have been back twice since. Its 5 star and it looks fab! Adults only though!

We got married on the beach in Cancun 20 years ago. It’s a fabulous place. We are hoping to go back there and have looked at the hard rock hotel. It does look lovely but I had the same reservations in thinking is it just the name that we are paying for so would be interested in what people think who have stayed there.

We loved it! If you like music it's def the place to be! Not the place to be of you like peace and quiet as they have pool parties and bands around the pool. It's not riotous though, we were there our children who were 6 and 12 and they loved it all!
The AI was very good value and all the restaurants were lovely and no problems getting bookings.

Grand @ Moon Palace is one of the nicest hotels we’ve ever stayed in a couple of years ago ... and it wasn’t even 100% complete.

Fantastic range of restaurants / bars / things to do / pools - especially as you have use of Moon Palaces other 2 neighbouring resorts which they take you to via a network of golf carts.

Little bit out the way though so the only time we left was for day trips.

As others have said I would look at Riviera Maya not main Cancun, some great hotels along there. You can’t beat Mexico for a good all inclusive, we have tried other Caribbean places but never as good as Mexico for food, entertainment, sea, culture etc!

If you are considering the Riviera Maya area and fancy something ever so slightly different I can recommend Sandos Caracol.

sandos/sandos-caraco...CLjcQAvD _BwE

Nice to see Monkeys an Coati Mundis running around the place between trips to the pool, bar, etc etc
