First Timers - Help

Hi there 😁

We've just started looking at adding a 8ish night stay in California to a hopefully upcoming trip to America in July.

We're regular Florida goers so very new to the west coast.

We basically want to see all the main tourist things like:

Disneyland
Universal Hollywood
Warner Bros Studio
Santa Monica Pier
Rodeo Drive
Walk of Fame

I'm thinking of 3 nights in a Disney hotel and 5 nights in Loews Hollywood.

How does this sound? We won't be driving but I've priced up some journeys on Lyft and they same pretty reasonable.

TIA x

This sounds reasonable, i have 4 days in anaheim (2 at the parks if they open hopefully) and then 3 days in LA staying in the same hotel in august. Have a look on groupon for LA too for tour buses and sightseeing. I have used the metro in LA before and seem for it to be safe, the latest i have used it was 10pm but i keep myself to myself. I have walked to beverly hills from walk of fame too it took a while but got to see all the sights whilst walking.

Do you want to stay in a disney hotel (they are very expensive) there are alot of disney partner hotels on the same road as disney which would work out cheaper. Im staying at the sheraton park hotel.

hope this helps?

x

That's a great help, thanks so much.

I'll definitely check out the partner hotels too.

We should be doing 3 nights in Anaheim for Disney and 3 in LA but we have booked a tour of LA in a day to get it all packed in so I am sure you could fill your 5 days!

Hi if your used doing Florida dare I say Disney and LA would be the last place I would visit. Now we did do Disney on our first west coast trip but have since learned there is so much more to see . For a first trip perhaps do do 3 days for Disney 2 days sightseeing and maybe 3 days San Diego.

We did 5 nights at the Loews Hollywood, 2 nights Disney hotel and 3 nights near Disney. We found we didn’t have enough time to fit everything in. Having 4 days at Disney made it feel so much more relaxed. We didn’t have a car either and just used Lyft and did an LA tour that took in Santa Monica, a couple of walking tours and the cheesy Hollywood homes tour alongside everything you mentioned.

I very much agree with this comment. May I suggest that you have a peek at both the 2018 trip report in my signature and also the 2021 pre trippie. Whilst they may not change your mind in any way, it might be worth your seeing some of the amazing other stuff in the area before discarding it.
