The first one I saw was Cats and Dogs. I went with my mum and my brother. Our local cinema was two bus rides away in those days and it turned into a whole day out.

We didn’t go very often, I think I probably went around six times between the age of 5 and 14 (when I started going with friends), so it always felt like a real treat whenever we did go. It was just my mum and I for the other trips and sometimes she would take me to the pub for lunch afterwards before we caught the two buses home.

The first I can remember is this ,

I remember crying my eyes out at the end, I don’t think I could watch it again.
I didn’t know it was a Disney film until I looked for the poster.

Jaws. I was 4, a grandparent was looking after me that day. I recall being bored at all the bits with people talking and just wanted to see the shark.

Yes, and me. Apparently I screamed at the wicked witch and the apple and had to be taken out!

My parents took my brother and I into Central London (a rare treat in itself) to see The Sound of Music but when we got there it was sold out, so we ended up seeing South Pacific instead. We did eventually get to see The Sound of Music a couple of months later.
