I do agree they should have asked 👍🏻
Not asking shows poor manners and how would they know where the bathroom is? Did they open each upstairs door to eventually find the bathroom 😲 |

We have had a new kitchen fitted we had the fitter his dad and his apprentice on the first day each of them asked to use the loo (downstairs one is also being refurbed so not an option) we told them to use whenever they wanted. They still asked every time they needed it but they were the best workmen we have ever had ,)

They should certainly ask first even if there is a down stairs loo. If the doors were closed off the landing how would they even know which was the bathroom without asking. They could be opening bedrooms doors first.

The bathroom faces you as soon as you get to the top of the stairs .
The tiler lives in the same estate and house is same layout so he knew . Yes I agree though it is quite poor manners .

Stop giving them tea and they wont need the toilet.
Also I have never been on a job where tilers work together on a small job. |

I would always expect them to ask first time (unless you’d said to them where it was), also during this time you could have mentioned that there were wipes to wipe taps/handles to keep everything safe.
My DH does carry a bottle in his van for such occasions! |

I do think it was a bit rude to not ask the first time. As the tiler knows the house layout he has been a bit too familiar. Given the many threads on here of poor tradesmen though I would just be grateful of finding someone who does a good job.
My husband also has an emergency container in his van but that is mainly as he does a lot of work for landlords and he wouldn’t want to use many of the tenants toilets (nor use their cups) It’s also a good excuse for him to visit a coffee shop. |
