My friend lives in NJ and drives to Florida for a weekend of racing and he is towing a car so a slow drive. Remember Americans normally only get 2 weeks holiday so tend to do long weekends.

I once spoke to a US family from pittsburg who had driven down to spend the weekend at OKW, no disney tickets, just a weekend to relax at OKW, i found that very strange

reminds me of that 12 or 13 years old girl swimming by us at the pool in windsor hills last summer, and as she passed by, she randomly shot to someone on the pool deck "dad, we've been there one month, I'm starting to get bored" ... turned out they had only been then a couple of days, and she thought that would impress other people around :p

kids, teens ... (and quite a few people on facebook actually )
I guess it’s possible but they were talking about where they’d stopped and switched driving on the way down, when they’d need gas etc on the way back. It sounded authentic and I didn’t get the impression they were trying to impress others, they were just conversing. They may have been early 20s rather than teens, but I had the impression they were college students (again by their conversation). I was more surprised / shocked anyone would travel so far for a day at Typhoon Lagoon

We were in Orlando for Christmas and we phoned some relations in Montreal to say happy Christmas.

They said that if they knew we were in Florida they would have driven down for a few days

Turns out that’s nothing out of the normal

The Disney Annual Passholder Facebook group is full of people who drive 10+ hours for a weekend. Nothing beats when I was on a coach trip in the Australian Outback though. We met a guy who had driven all day to go to a bar on his day off.
