Watford Central is apparently the closest.

We stayed at Kings Langley Premier Inn and it was a short drive to the studios and we took a short train ride to London the next day to spend the day in the City.

Watford North is the closest (about 1 mile away) nice refurbished room as well.
We are staying at Hemel Hempstead west in two weeks as it was much cheaper (£32 a room) still only 15 min away.

Watford North is the closet, has a TGI Fridays next door along with McDonalds and a Harvester just across the road.

We stayed at the Croxley Green Premier Inn. It wasn’t too far away (~15 min drive) and we walked to the tube station to get to central London.

2weeks ago, we stayed at the Travelodge Hemel Hempstead Gateway. Basic rooms but dirt cheap & the rate included a surprisingly good breakfast buffet. Great location (close to M1) with a Subway, Dominos & Toby Carvery next door.
We drove there in the morning, went to a cinema in a nearby complex (5min drive) in the afternoon, followed by dinner in F&B’s.
In the morning, we drove to the Studios (bout 12 mins drive) for our 9am entry time. We were in the first group so not busy at all. 🙂

We did the opposite to most... went for a pricier hotel, but made a holiday of it. Holiday inn Hemel Hempstead, 10-15 min drive, so nice we stayed 2 nights... did HP one day and whipsnade on the way home the next

Edit to add, we also went to the cinema and Frankie and Benny the afternoon of arrival! ( love those meerkat deals!).

Edited at 09:00 PM.
