Driving licence.

DH driving licence has expired, he has applied for a new one, should get confirmation code today. Can he drive once he has this code or does he have to wait for physical licence to arrive? Thanks.

DS just printed out the page and carried it in the car. However new one arrived within a few days and that was a few weeks ago when it was still semi lockdown. That was for a change of address.

They've extended the expiry of driving licences by 11 months for those that expired between 01.02.2020 and 31.12.2020

I found mine had expired last week when I needed a hire car and the company didn't blink when they got given the expiry date.

I did apply for my renewal last Thursday and received the new one in the post yesterday so they are processing them quite well at the moment.

I got a new one two weeks ago.

I applied online on the Monday and the new one arrived in the post on Thursday.

Bit of a drama, it appeared i had used a site which charges £58 instead of the usual £14, my error doing it in a panic, but have had refund now of the difference. Just goes to show be very careful which site you use, we had thought we had used the gov website.

DH now has his licence back. X

I applied online as mine was running out at 70. Took about 3 days to arrive and the site says you can drive while waiting for your new one
