Flight Upgrade

Hi all,

I've booked and paid for flights and car hire with British Airways for may 2020. I phoned BA to ask for price to upgrade and they've quoted me higher price than a new booking. Can anyone advise best way to upgrade?

You pay the upgrade price or buy new flights. Not sure what else there is for it.

You either cancel your current flights and book new ones or you pay the upgrade price.

As Claudette says -you pay for the upgrade or buy yourself new flights

OP. Play the waiting game. The upgrade price may drop or sad to say it may rise.
However my game plan is always book the cabin I will be happy with then monitor the prices daily.
Sometimes a deal pops up and other times not.

VA is more easy to get a deal with than BA though.

We waited and kept checking the price for an upgrade with Virgin until we were happy with it.
Managed to get PE both ways for �500 extra and that was perfect for us.
Just keep checking

Thanks all. Decided to cancel and rebook with Thomson's PE in the end. Friends just back said BA economy was awful. Worth the peace of mind only lost deposit
