We were looking at TVs this morning in John Lewis
If you get an Ultra HD TV you can watch both Sky and Netflix in UHD (Depending on your package).
Deals seemed quite decent at the moment.

Sky UHD is a very compromised version with only a substandard version of HDR supported at the moment but does at least mean that most 4k TV's support it.

Ideally you want something that supports both HDR10+ and Dolby Vision as these are the two main standards going forwards.

LG, Philips, Don't and Panasonic are the big names that do have sets which support both. There are other brands like Hisense and Roku who are also doing them and are actually good makes.

Example 43" Hisense model which is under £400 and supports both standards is HISENSE 43AE7400FTUK

Philips 43PUS8535 with ambilight is another example.

Panasonic TX-43HX580BZ is another.

All under £500

Sony currently have some beauties in that price range.

I'm trying to find the one I want so I can be ready when the Black Friday sales start, Richer Sounds and Curry's reduced the high end ones by a hundred pounds last year but I waited for New Year sales, they didn't reduce again so I've been waiting patiently all this time.

Android TV power models tend o be higher in the range and more expensive than the budget. It would be my choice provided you can get at least Android 10. Sony have had issues with performance of their processors and really underperform at the moment.

LG with webos has gotten better than they were which would also be a decent choice.

Panel wise many use the LG ones so there isn't really much difference there if like for like technologies.

In the budget range we are talking here it is most likely the LED technology rather than the OLED.

Can you expand a little on that, I've been reading the reviews for the Sony Models I'm interested in for the better part of fifteen months and no one has mentioned processor problems at all.

Thanks ...

The 2019/20 models.were deemed.not suitable for the latest version of Android and Sony were not going to offer an upgrade for those models.

Law suits later from US owners they backed down and deployed it. As they had said they turned out to be laggy.

The Philips OLED's are much better option than the Sony's for AndriodTV or an LG if WebOS has the apps you want.
