Benalmadena Dec 19. An all includio winter break with friends. Day 4, Parque Paloma & cable car ride
Sunday 1st December
After waiting around for people all week Matt and I decided we would go straight to Parque la Paloma after breakfast. It was a later start for us but we were still first down. I did message everyone to ask if they wanted to join us but no one was ready so it was just Matt and I. It’s a short walk there and it was a lovely day again. We visited last year and I loved how big it was and all the animals roaming around. They have a cactus area which I love. It really is worth a visit and walk around. We made our way back to the hotel. I got a message from Sandy about going to the cable car. Matt and I did talk about going last year but I’m so scared of heights I didn’t want to. I did say I would go and see how it was when we got there. Sandy had sorted out what bus we needed so we waited about 15 minutes for one. It was only 7 stops but we saw a whole new Benalmadena town centre. We got there and Matt got us tickets before I could chicken out. Honestly I didn’t like the ride up, I was bricking it and kept my eyes shut most of it. Sandy took a funny video (I will try and upload it) and some photos. It was a 15 minute ride, I hung onto the handle while the others made me laugh and I made it to the top! It was worth it though as the view was spectacular We spoke to someone who had run up the track! She said the walk higher up lovely so we made our way up some rocky steps. It took us about 15 minutes, Matt steamed on ahead and reached the top before us. We took our time going down, it was a little tricky but glad we made the effort. They have a birds of prey show at 1pm but we missed it so it’s just the view but I would recommend going. It was €15 each return on the cable car. I was pretty nervous for the journey back, Steph said she would walk down with me but it would have taken hours so I put my brave face on and went back on the cable car. We swapped places on the way back and it was a lot better as you couldn’t really see how high we were. So my tip for anyone afraid of heights is to go forward on the way there and backward on the way back. We just missed a bus so had a look on google maps and found out it was only a 15 min walk so we decided to do that. On the way we saw Xmas markets and Steph and Sandy looked around them but Matt and I carried on. We made it back just in time for a light lunch. Matt went to meet Paul, Russell, Linda and Tracy to watch Arsenal and then Everton games while Sandy, Steph and I caught the last of the sun near the pool. We got talking to a 76 yr lady by herself, she goes every December for a week then all of January. Hopefully we will be doing that when we retire. Anyway we had a couple of drinks then went to get ready when the sun had gone down. Tracy, Linda and Debbie came back to the hotel and we met them in the bar. The Spanish shots measures had increased. The boys came back and had a drink with us. We all went to dinner together. The plan was to go back to Capones to watch a Neil Diamond/Elvis impersonator. We wore the Xmas hats again. Linda, Russell and Paul didn’t come out with us. I had a gin and lemonade which was really strong. We got there just for the end of Neil Diamond. We had a dance and the guy was ok but really strange when he spoke like he was Neil. He got changed for Elvis but wasn’t as good. Then at midnight it was karaoke. I was first up as Sapphire. I chose one of my favourites, Meghan Trainor All about the bass. I danced about loving the stage and even got a nice round of applause at the end. Tracy did her Tina Turner song. A group of ladies were also singing and it was good fun. Plenty of Xmas songs to sing along to as well. Tracy asked the DJ to sing A fairy tale of New York with her Matt and I were flagging so we left them to it and went back to the hotel. Edited at 12:17 AM. |

Well done on managing your fear. The views look fabulous!
You certainly had a lot of fun in the evening! You are very brave to do karaoke - though with my singing I would clear the room in about 10 seconds flat 🤣

So brave of you to go on the cable car and then climb even higher, so worth it for those views.
I would have been asleep early after such a busy day 😂 Well done for managing a full night out too. |

Thank you, I was ok with the climbing, it’s the thought of the cable car swinging about and snapping and it seemed a long journey but well worth it.
We like a night out but even Matt and I had enough before the others! |
