Virgin mco to Heathrow September 21

I have a one way booked in Sept 21 from MCO to Heathrow. Is it likely this will get swapped back to Gatwick by then or do you think it will stay as Heathrow?

Who knows! Selfishly I wish they would give us the option to change airports. Gatwick is my airport of choice as its only 15 mins down the road from me, however my flights for September are scheduled to leave from Heathrow, would be nice if they did change it back to Gatwick.

I will be grateful to get on a plane at all and despite living in West Cornwall, would drive to and from Aberdeen if it meant that I got my vacation.

It will be from Heathrow. I’m 99.9% confident we won’t see Virgin back at Gatwick for 2021.

They have pulled out of Gatwick for the "foreseeable future". With the slump in demand for air travel, there is no way Virgin (or BA) can justify the costs of running two London bases at present.

I would guess BA will be back at Gatwick before Virgin, as once demand starts to pick up - particularly for business travel - the prime business routes will be operated from Heathrow & the leisure travel moved back to Gatwick.

Both airlines could have their hands forced though if Airport Coordination (who allocate the takeoff & landing slots) re-instate the "80/20% lose it or use it" rule. (basically if you don't use a slot pair for at least 80% of the flying season, you lose it the following season, normally by means of a forced sale).

Long-term demand will return to pre-pandemic levels, so both Virgin and BA will need those Gatwick slots. Could be interesting!

Thanks everyone.

I have a one way from Gatwick on the way out with BA and one coming back with Virgin to Heathrow... I guess it doesn't make much difference I am just not used to Heathrow at all.

You'll be reet Pauline - if letting the train take the strain, follow signs for the underground (Piccadilly line, see station stops HERE).

Pauline, are you driving or letting the train take the strain? If you're leaving your car at LGW you can jump on the bus from LHR to LGW.

Neither 🙂

I have a taxi booked as it seemed to be the easiest option particularly as it's a long drive home. I will just need to research where we meet him for pick up nearer the time lol! I have no idea why I am sweating the small stuff when we don't even know if we're going yet🤣
