Vitual lines and uk phone number

They appear to be using the virtual lines at some of the gift shops.
It is asking for a US phone number, I was going to use a 3 sim card which uses a UK number. Any idea how this will work as it is using data, I am more concerned incase they introduce it for rides

The short answer is it won't work. They are looking to text you on a US number - UK ones are no good. I've always bought an H2O or T mobile sim for this reason.

I would imagine that when we are allowed back into the US, either this won't be needed or there will be some system in place that WILL allow non US numbers.

Were actually allowed back into the US no. Its coming back into the UK from the US which causes the issues.

Id just buy a cheap $10 throwaway US phone for this reason.

this is incorrect, unless you are, yourself, exempt.

if 'you' have been to any Schengen, or UK country in the last 14 days, 'you' are not allowed to enter the USA. The ban is still standing. ('you' refers to any regular, full british citizen passport holder, travelling under ESTA, which is the most common case on this forum)

The USA has banned all people from the UK and Schengen European countries (and a few other countries as well) at the moment. So, no, you aren't allowed to go to the USA, unless you're a US resident.

In addition, anyone coming from the USA to the UK (including americans) will have to quarantine for 14 days on arrival.

No , unless you have residency (like a green card) Or certain not tourist visas then U.K. passport holders are currently barred from entering the US by the US government . Nothing to do with quarantine when returning,

Well not quite all, if you are Nigel Farrage you can get Trump to make an exception and then pose in a pub 13 days after you’ve returned for a photo op
U.K. passport holders with U.S.residency can still fly back and forth but would be subject to the UKs 14 day quarantine.
So US resident not US citizen.

Ah yes. Sorry - got my terminology wrong.

And, like you say, it's not strictly everyone. But, as a general rule, it applies to the vast majority of DIBBers.
