Who’s booked a Europe DIY Villa for this summer?
Hi
I should be laying on a Mexican beach right now but clearly that was cancelled. We also have a Villa booked in the Algarve for end of Aug as part of a package. However I’m not so positive that will go ahead and one of our options would be to have a full refund. We’d take advantage of that as the prices as a package are sky rocketing. There are some beautiful villas that we could book but it’d be DIY. Now we usually have DIY holidays but in this climate I’m nervous. It’d also be very last minute as I’m sure the package won’t give as much notice as I’d like. Therefore I’d struggle with the usual checks etc... Who have you booked your villa with, what made you feel reassured it’s reputable and have you been able to secure a refund if the flights are cancelled. Any recommendations would be great too. 3 beds ( 2 doable if twin) Greece, private pool Thanks

Our villa was booked through Homeaway, booked with them a couple of times before and never had an issue.
We are booked for Spain though and obviously that’s a bit up in the air ! Ds has looked at local cases to where our villa is and the closest ‘spike’ which is barely even that according to the heat map , is 200km away from where we are staying . It’s a waiting game for us 😕 |

Fingers crossed for you.
Where do you stand with regards to a refund if the FCO advice remains the same.

Thank you .
Villa is non refundable now as the date has passed for free cancellation but could probably get a Ryanair refund although we are still waiting for one from them for a cancelled Berlin trip ! We really want to go though , after a covid death in the family we just want some sun and a pool . That’s it!😞 |

I don’t blame you. Let’s hope it all changes and you can go. How far in advance will the airline infirm you? Looking at your countdown you’d like to think they’d be able to give a couple of weeks notice given.

We're in Majorca now. Battleface provide Covid insurance (medical not cancellation) even if FCO advice not to travel is in place so if you decide to go that's an option.
To OP - we tried to find a villa this week and payment in full and non refundable on most sites after 7 days to travel so only book if you're prepared to travel/lose the money. I wanted a package as Jet2 or TUI offer vouchers at least. Ryanair are only offering vouchers to recent booking so we would have lost £1000 if we didn't use the flights. |
