I had a confirmed booking in a studio for boardwalk in October and advertised via David's and it was gone within a few hours. Standard view and I didn't ask full price. First time using and is seems to have gone ok, although I was quite unsure.

Great thank you - do you just do it as friends and family and are there fees? I couldn’t quite understand it.

It feels as though the risk is all at their end, as once you have the money they are at the mercy of you not cancelling? Or is there something I need to be doing to ensure they don’t trash the villas?

I’ve done it loads of times, payment through PayPal is straightforward - might lose on the exchange rate a bit but I never worry too much about it.

The fee is wrapped up by the conversion fee. Instead of receiving £1320 for a booking (at $1.30 to £) we received £1254.

It's a trust thing for sure. I provide the booking ref, which they can immediately link and check in MDE. Then a photo of the booking on my screen and the dues status.

There is a risk on our side as they could issue a dispute or chargeback after the vacation - I've dealt with Paypal before on issues and they almost always go with the buyer.

They could also trash the room, leaving us with the bill, as members we are responsible for our guests.

It gets transferred to you account converted to £, there is no fee to withdraw to a current account.

Beware that you need a verified Paypal account as the spectre of the EU puts limits on how much you can receive in a transfer. Verifiying is just a case of entering your banking details, linking your account to Paypal and all the systems they check lining up (electoral roll, credit etc).

Thank you for that - one more question if I may - do you do it via friends and family on PayPal or commercial?

Just google DVC points rental contracts, there are plenty of examples, message me if you can't find one, I have one that I've used in the past.
