By the way the pool screen area is often incorrectly referred to as a lanai by Television presenters.

I have been known to regularly throw something at the TV when Jonnie Irwin invariably calls the pool screen a lanai.

I mentioned in my earlier post that the pool screen is clear from my profile picture. The green towel is on a sunbed under the lanai - not much shade on it that day though.

I just screech at him. He even did it on a screened balcony on an apartment. I love our Lanai we eat most of our meals under it! Rain or shine!

Invent it, get it on Dragons Den, make your fortune, holiday in Florida for the rest of your life!

We don't always get the best shade from the lanai at the villa we stay at. Because the pool faces due south and we always go either April/May or Nov/Dec the sun is always just a bit lower in the sky. We can usually get our heads in the shade under the lanai but not always our legs.

Such problems are really keeping me awake for the next 58 days.

The panels would be huge and quite high up. They would be impossible for the average person to remove and replace. Some of the cages are two stories high. Watching them replace a screen at the top of this one was perilous enough.

They are also fixed in with a special tool to the aluminum screen. Replacing even a couple can take an hour or so depending on where they are. You can pay up to $75 per screen too, so it's going to cost quite a bit for some owners.

We lost 11 screens but have no damage to the house so have been lucky.

My heart goes out to the poor people who lose everything in these disasters.

On a car forum I use someone who lives in Orlando said to preserve the frame he cuts the screen if the wind gets above a certain level.

Lots of pool screens wrecked. Ours was. Saw most houses in the street had damage to them. One unlucky person even had the frame wrecked.

Nice little earner for the company that repairs these. Also for the pool maintenance people to come and clear all the debris.
