Tourin' Over California 2017 - Day 11 - California Adventure and San Diego

23 July

Yet another early start today as we were going back into California Adventure for early entry at 7am.

Megan went to get fast passes for Guardians of the Galaxy and we met her by Radiator Racers but once again it was down first thing, so we went on Luigi again.

We then went on California Screaming and were going to go on Toy Story Mania but this was also down.

Not such good progress this morning 2 rides in the first hour and the general crowds were about to hit the park. Megan and I went to ride Guardians with our FPs, the queue for standby stretched down the street.

The ride took us by surprise as you are straight into the drops once in the lift unlike TOT at WDW.

Next stop was Starbucks for breakfast, Tracey and I both had cinnamon rolls, which were really nice, warm with cheese topping, Megan had a Mickey cookie which she didn't like. We all tried some and it wasn't very nice.

After breakfast we rode Soarin and then Racers with FP.

After this Tracey insisted that we had one last dance with Luigi and his cousins before leaving the park This was definitely the ride we did most, 5 times.

We went to get our bags from Grand Californian to head off to San Diego. Google maps warned of 45 mins delays on I5 so gave us an alternative route.

We arrived at Best Western on Shelter Island about 1.15 but once again our room wasn't ready. We got some beds by the pool and then got down lunch on the bar terrace, Tracey chicken Caesar salad, me turkey wrap, Megan buffalo chicken wings but coating wasn't too nice.

We then spent a couple of hours in pool before going to find our room. It was on the ground floor and we realised that you needed a higher floor to really get a decent view. We asked at reception but there were none other available.

We looked on the internet for somewhere nearby to eat and settled on McDonalds. We drove there and ate at a table outside. It seemed to be a restaurant for the locals and didn’t feel like a touristy area so we felt a bit out of place.

We had a look in the shop next door before heading back to the hotel.

Day 12 here

The hotel was nice enough, I would ask for a high floor room. It just seemed that there wasn't much in the area around it. I prefer somewhere a bit busier and more touristy
