Son failed driving test for third time any tips ?
My son failed his driving test for the third time and is gutted!
His driving instructor feels ds1 is ready for test and doesn’t need further lessons (ds1 s driving was near perfect on lessons before tests) .the instructor has a good track record/pass rate with family and seems as confused as ds1 as why he fails the tests! First test he almost passsed closest he has been. Second test he had been waiting at a junction quite a while (it’s quite hard to judge the traffic on this one as you can’t see it coming until it’s around the corner) he pulled out of the junction when he shouldn’t have ,he also felt nervous of the examiner not as comfortable as he did on his first test. The third one was a few mistakes but he actually felt like he’d done well in this one so was hopeful.but again didn’t feel at ease with the examiner. Just feel so bad and worried for him now because he s getting more and more nervous each test ,I have an awful feeling it’s becoming a vicious circle ! it’s so expensive too nearly £100 a try when you include the test fee and lesson beforehand . We tried Bach’s rescue remedy on the third one ,has anyone any tips ? He’s gonna be a nervous wreck this next time Edited at 02:01 PM. |

I failed 2 (or 3 - i can't remember it was so long ago)
I passed with an examiner that i felt more comfortable with in the end but that's luck of the draw I guess. I did however change my instructor. Although mine was good, I just felt it wouldn't hurt to try someone new. |

Fake tests? See if some people that you know but he doesn't will run a fake test with him a few times?

A long time ago this was me. My driving instructor suggested coming along as a passenger as he couldn't understand why I kept failing, and then I passed!
Obviously, I was fine driving without him after this too. Might be an idea if your instructor is willing? |

It’s just nerves I think and that leads them to make silly mistakes.
Plus I think they’re so desperate to pass it can also affect them and they over think it. |

I failed twice although certainly by the second test I was doing very well and my instructor said I was his best pupil at that time. But nerves would get the better of me.
In the end I booked a few days intensive instruction with test at the end, after driving around for most of the day for three days prior, it did the trick and I passed on my third attempt. |

Our daughter passed by doing a week's intensive course. She was hell to live with at the time, but driving had become 'ordinary' by the time she got to the test and she had no nerves at all

Both dds took a few goes to pass.
Dd2 was especially upset as she'd never failed anything previously- I believe she was putting too much pressure on herself. She got there eventually. |

Failed 4 yes 4 times and all was because of nerves. I was so nervous and it showed. I made a mistake on the 5 assumed I had failed and relaxed. He passed me because even though I had made a mistake it was how I corrected myself showed I could be a good driver. I wanted to give up after the 3 test and my mum said no and made me keep going and that was the right thing for me. All I can suggest is just keep going. He will get it eventually

I failed at first and it was all nerves. So after the second test my lessons were just drives, but I would have to narrate the drive as i went. Doing this had two out comes i could not think about other things and worry, plus as i narrated the reasons for my decisions were clear and so the instructor could advise.
