Virgin Atlantic - Gluten Free Meal
Hi,
We are off in 3 weeks time from Gatwick to Orlando Intl & wondered if anyone that has recently been could tell us what the Virgin gluten free food was please & if it was nice? Trying to decide if we should stock up on gluten free food before we go for our coeliac daughter or risk what the plane food will be. Many thanks, |

I'm a coelaic and have flew with Virgin a few times since being diagnosed - most recently was May this year.
I've found that the food on the outbound journey has always been great - Its usually something like rice and veg with chicken in a sauce. Then for the 'snack' they have gf sandwiches. The return journey from the states is always a bit hit and miss for me - Once I had a main meal of vegetables and dessert of fruit (no protein source!) another time they gave me a croissant for breakfast which clearly isnt gf - the croissant incident was just human error and they quickly sorted that one out for me. I think its always better to be safe than sorry so I will always carry some pre-packaged snacks with me!

I'd echo the above. DH is coeliac, I usually also order the GF meal for convenience if we want to trade things. Edible, but glad we took snacks. Not so bothered on the way back as we always take a night flight and eat before we take off.
FWIW, last time I was in the North Terminal I found the GF selection airside to be really poor. We managed to find enough snacks in case they were needed but would have struggled if we'd needed sandwiches. If you have time and need something substantial, I'd actually recommend heading over to the M&S landside in the South Terminal as their GF range is really good. Living nearby, I often use this one on my way home since it's convenient to hop off the train and pop in. |
