Staying Onsite: EMH or Avoid Park with EMH?

As the question says I always read to avoid EMH, but then I read the other day this was more aimed at offsite guests arriving later int he day (for morning EMH) so I am curious now, are EMH worth doing if staying onsite and you are looking to cram in a few headliners?

If you're staying on site EMH is a good perk, we take advantage of the morning ones when we can

Yes if you're going to get there at opening time so you get the full benefit. Great way to have an awesome start.

Then maybe head off for a late breakfast/early lunch.

So would you schedule your FP's in that park say at 10,11,12 or would that leave you in there too late? Or maybe stay there for the first 2 hours then park hop to a quieter park with FP's for later in the day? Struggling with FP+ as we always used to do a different park pm to am, but best use of FP's really would be to try and use them am then look to get a 4th etc... Agh, dilemas!

That's what we did. We were there Thanksgiving week so it was fairly busy. We'd get there for the start of EMH, bomb round doing a few of our favourites with minimum queues, then our FP's would come in to play around 11am onwards.

We would stay in the park and utilise the 4th/5th etc etc FP, or go back to the resort or whatever then come back out on the night when the parks had died down a bit. (Particularly loved repeatedly riding Expedition Everest as a walk-on in the final hour of AK)

If staying onsite - EMH can be a bit of a treat particularly if going in a less busy time of year ( if one exists!)
Morning hours do give the opportunity to get a couple of rides in before park opening and you can then get a couple of rides on less busy rides too. At which point think about having FP's booked for the same park ( which usually gets rather busy) OR head elsewhere for 3 FP rides with very little queue and then back to the hotel for a teatime swim

The trick is to make it for park opening. Be at the gates 20 - 30 mins before opening and you really can get a lot done. Last one I did was at MK, got 7 dwarfs and all of Fantasyland done by park opening. Then we got Haunted mansion Big Thunder and Splash done before the crowds got in. We bailed after that and went to EPCOT where I had the three fastpass booked early afternoon.

After years of staying offsite & avoiding EMH days, we now stay onsite & actively use them. Last year we managed to walk on to Soarin' at Epcot at the start of EMH - we'd never even been down the stand-by line before!

Like many others, we try to use park-hopping to its best effect.

We avoid EMH days except when going to MK and then we make use of morning ones only.
