It is certainly something I begrudge paying (especially having flown Virgin for years and always getting seat selection for free) but the risk is too great for me to not, the thought of doing that flight sitting on my own is unbearable, I would much rather suck up the cost. Has meant for next year we have opted for ELR out and exit row coming out now though... for an extra £10 it seems silly not to!

Paid for the bubble this year (first time on Virgin) on the way out and bubble emergency row on the way back.
I object to it (not enough to rule it out though) because you pay enough for the flight ticket anyway, the least they could do is let you book a seat. It's just a hidden cost; almost 10% of the ticket price to get pre-booked seats together. |

Didn't pay coming out and all eight of us including 12 yr old were separated and not just the next row all over the plane!
Hence we have paid for our return journey. I think it's a rip off though

Interesting stats, whoever is monitoring it for VA will no doubt be delighted knowing the majority will pay extra for seating.
As a matter of interest, how many Dibbers reading this thread have paid to reserve seats but due to logistical/T&Cs VA then moved/split your party from selected seats? For those who pay to sit together perhaps that would also be of interest. Currently seat reservation is included in our fare, if/when VA apply a charge for PE/Upper seat selection we'll accept whatever is available at OLCI/check-in desk. |

Thanks for everyones opinions, I think on this alone I won't leave it until last minute to book flights as we do like to sit together and would pay to do so, as much as paying £200 leaves a bitter taste I'd rather sit together than be split up.

We've paid for our seats for next April as we managed to get up in the bubble, however dont think I would have bothered otherwise.

We have paid both ways , but no way would give up my seat for some one who chooses not to pay, we are taking a 2 year old with us they is no way I would not risk been sat together at the end of the day it's the passenger choice to pay or not , we have always paid for seat selection out of choice 😎🇺🇸
