Disneyland & Universal Hollywood - Best ideas?
Hello all!
I am relatively new to the West Coast side of Disney and Universal. I am thinking of going in 2018 and whilst the rates aren't available for most places, any advice or tips on where to stay, how long is suitable, who to fly with etc would be greatly appreciated! I would also think about trying to fit in a few of the other local theme parks etc, but as I would possibly be going solo, I'm not sure on the plausibility of transport to and from most of these parks. Again, any ideas or tips are greatly appreciated.

Universal Studios and Disneyland are some 35 miles apart. However, you can book a coach that will take you from DL to Universal and back again.

Would you be driving Jammy? LA is so spread out that driving is the easiest option for getting the most out of your time there.
We went to Anaheim for Disneyland and stayed 3 night, then stayed in Burbank for Universal for 4 nights. We were in walking distance of Disneyland and had 1 day in each park. We had 1 day at Universal Studios and used Uber to get there to save on parking costs. That was enough time in each of the main parks. We spent the rest of the time seeing parts of LA we didn't see the 1st time we went - Science Center, Griffith Observatory, Paramount Studios, Hollywood (wouldn't go again but needed to go once). We'd already been to Santa Monica, stars houses tour, Warner Bros tour. There are some trip reports for LA so might be worth having a read and seeing what parts of LA take your fancy. |

35 miles, but around 1.5 hours on many days.
Universal is North LA and you have Six Flags Magic Mountain about 30 minutes away which is bigger coasters. Also thing like the Warner Bros Studio Tour, Hollywood, Beverly Hills and Santa Monica are all north and west. Disney is south of LA and there is Knotts Berry Farm nearby which is a theme park about 20 minutes away. |
