Medical injections

Hi everyone. We fly in November with Virgin and DH has to carry an injection to do while we are away. We have got a letter from the doctor to say he needs this but it also needs refrigerating. Would it be ok in the hand luggage till we get there or do we have to check it in?

Hi, I have to carry hydrocortisone injections with me everywhere I go and both the airport and park security were absolutely fine with them. Mine travelled in my handbag and I just took them out at security.

Medication is best is hand luggage with you on the plane in case your hold luggage goes on holiday without you and doesn't turn up the other end.

OP. Is it going to be ok out of the refrigerator for the whole flight?

I don't know but I'm sure I have read that they can sort medicines out for you. Just a thought.

Finally I have been alongside a Guy at Disney security when he opened a case with at least 4 syringes in and little bottles of some medicine I assume. No issue at all.

I’ve had to take th8ngs that needed to be kept cold and the cabin crew were happy to find somewhere for it. I’m sure they will if you ask, suspect they are quite used to it

DH uses one of these, they do come in much smaller sizes as well!

I have to take injections with me because of a DVT - always carry them in my hand luggage and I’ve never been questioned.

I carry insulin with me. Always in hand luggage as it could freeze in the hold then it's useless plus luggage could go missing. I have a couple of frio pouches which act as the fridge whilst flying. I also carry Dr note and prescriptions but haven't had to show these.

Thank you. I think we will carry it in hand luggage and then ask if cabin crew can put it somewhere cool. Just hope we remember it when we get off!
