I have just read your latest update. Please peruse the autism diagnosis. So many girls and women are not recognised and diagnosed and are left mentally harmed by the lack of understanding. My daughter was diagnosed at 14 after moving to the US. A paediatrician in the UK did suggest it at about 13 but our private insurance wouldn't pay for the evaluation and the CAHMS service had huge waits. I am still horrified that her secondary school ignored her turning to face the wall in corridors and the extreme distress she was in much of the time at school without us ever being told. The screening questionnaire revealed all kinds of things they hadn't told us about.

She was the typical autistic girl hiding at the back and never asking for help or causing problems and therefore easy to ignore. She developed Functional Neurological Disorder rather than anorexia but the dysfunctional reaction to stress is very similar. My daughter was unable to walk for 18 months because of it and has rotated through many different symptoms since.

I sympathise with you enormously. I think mental health issues are far harder to cope with than physical ones. It is so difficult to know how to help and so easy to become angry with self destructive behaviours. Trying to find the balance between helping encourage improvement without tipping them over the edge is impossible. A good counselor has helped my daughter alot. Hopefully a change might help your daughter as well.

I really hope these moves to change Emma's medication and therapist can happen as soon as possible; for the sake of all of you. Hang on in there, you're all doing an amazing job x

When you mentioned about the wardrobe I immediately thought of autism. I wish Emma and all your family the best.

Just caught this update. Wishing you all the best for the ongoing months ahead, your poor DD and whole family must be thoroughly exhausted. DD just going through the autism pathway, but its a surefire thing, and just a paper exercise. I think girls are more difficult to diagnose and it hides and manifests in so many different ways. Lockdown is hard enough on everyone without these additional stresses. Xxx

Just read your update - I’m so pleased there are some positive changes in the pipeline for your daughter. Can’t imagine that the stress that the past few weeks with lockdown must have brought. Wishing you & your family well.

So the GP and bone specialist have agreed to let Emma have depo Provera injections to cover the next 6 months. That is happening on Wednesday and hopefully the fear of her periods through putting on weight will subside and make a positive impact . It’s not a long term solution but she needs to get through this tough spell.

I was hoping for more encouragement with regard to M&S being able to open their clothes side but hopefully not too much longer as it’s really tough watching her making every job round the house last forever because of her fears that when the job is done it will be snack or meal time . She spends all day trying to put off what she knows she needs to eat and drink.

It’s really tough watching her frustratedly struggling with trying to squeeze every last drop of butter out of her crumpets , constantly saying ‘ I’ve finished ‘ when she clearly hasn’t , or just sat in the car unwilling to come back in , or a new one tonight , climbing out of the kitchen window to try to avoid having her drink . If it wasn’t so sad , it would be laughable

We will make it work though , there are many worse off

Can't make it any better for you-wish I could , but just know another Dad is reading this just willing you, and your whole family on so much.

You all need better back up than my words can provide.

To use your words above - It is beyond sad, and is beyond laughable.

No idea who to call on your behalf and hope someone reading this can - but pick up the phone to any source that can give you and your family the support you need. xx
