Paying an advance dining fee when on ddp?

Just wondering if anyone else has experienced this?

I have booked a few reservations for August with no problems, but when I try to book crt or hoop de doo it tells me I have to pay an advance dining fee.

It states they will charge in the region of $360 to my credit card once the table is booked, but we are on the dining plan

Any ideas before I phone them? This will be our 7th trip onsite, never experienced this before but wondering if it's a new thing? Don't fancy having over $700 charged to my credit card!

I have tried the app, also different devices and browsers to see if it makes a difference!

Hi. From what I recall, we had to put credit card details in to ‘hold’ the table but nothing got actually charged... if you don’t turn up for the reservation they would then charge you I think?

I did wonder that, but it says they will charge when the booking is made it seems weird as I've not seen it before!
I think I'll have to bite the bullet and ring them tomorrow. Thanks for your reply

I think I’ve had that issue before.

Sure I booked over the phone and there wasn’t a charge.

if the site worked as it should, and you're correctly logged in w/ booking linked, you should have an option to "guarantee with dining plan" on the CC/payment page for the restaurant reservation

if not, you need to call to book using your dining plan

if you do it any other way, you'll be charged for the full amount at time of booking

When we booked CRT they took my card details even though we were on DDP but it was never charged - CRT was always this way to my recollection, but might have changed since our 2016 visit.

Thanks for this, I am logged in as I booked homecomin' just before, so it must be a glitch. I'm going to ring them just to be safe! 😊

All of my bookings are held against a credit card and it said if we don't turn up (even though on DDP) our card will be billed. Nothing has gone on card (even the $1 tests)

Yes this is the usual way, but after 6 other trips (and the adrs I've already booked) I've never seen this way of doing it - it brings up a completely different screen which states that I will be charged there and then an advance dining fee of the full cost. I'll see if I can screen shot it so you guys can see

Some meals, like Cinderella's Royal Table and Hoop Dee Doo, require payment in advance at time of booking. A previous poster was right in saying that it should let you use your dining plan credits to guarantee the booking though and therefore not have to prepay.
