Would you stay at SSR or not?

We are currently booked in for 1 night is SSR preferred studio on Aug 4.

We are driving up from Miami so will get there at lunchtime and leaving next morning as have flight to Washington DC.

Not doing Parks so thought we would spend time at pool and do DS in the evening.
I also need to do a couple of clothes washes as we will have been in Florida for 8 days and need clean stuff for another 8 days in Washington DC and NYC.

Ther laundry is free for us as DVC members so i was going to do it in the afternoon whilst at the pool.

I felt SSR would be better for DS and as we are only there for 1 night.
Only ever been in Grandstand Pool so not sure what other pools in Preferred area are like.
Also do laundry areas get busy.
I dont really want to stay in a 1 bed as its a lot of points for 1 quick night and for the sake of a washer and dyer.

If you did not want to do SSR where would you go as a balance of nice pool ( we have 2 14 year olds) and being able to get laundry done.

i know you can walk or boat to DS from SSR but really not fussed if i have to take the car

Thanks

I’d definitely do SSR, especially for non park- the best quick serve are in Disney Springs. By then in preferred you will also have a good chance of a refurb room.

I’d go for the less points for one night. Laundry is free for DVC members whichever Resort.

Sometimes BWV are less points then OKW.

Saratoga seems like to be a great choice for the night. Beautiful resort, multiple feature pools, easy access to Disney Springs and one of the less expensive resorts (obviously getting the Standard View would save you some points). I'm sure you'll enjoy it!

Our favourite resort for non-park trips as it has great pools and is so close to Springs. I never waste my points on Preferred though as I like being in Paddocks the best as it is so central.

We stayed 1 night in the Paddock area and the 'Paddock' pool was awesome. Great splash pad for little ones, although your 14 year olds won't use, but the pool has a water slide which is great.
You can't beat walking to DS of an evening and having that nice walk back after a glass of wine.

I would say as your wanting to do DS in the evening then SSR is the perfect resort.
We have never had a problem using the laundry facilities, we usually put a load of two on while we are at the pool.

As you say you're happy to drive, I'd pick the lowest point cost room available. They all have nice pools and free laundry, so for one night, I really wouldn't be too bothered about which resort.
