Depends what you mean by planning.
We're going August next year and had a 488 day count down when we booked. I suppose I consider myself in preliminary research period, I won't do any serious planning until the busy day guides come out for the dates we are away |

We are going back in 14 months time and have booked flights and resort so I guess planning started with that when the free dining plan started.
However real planning; adrs, fast passes, park days will start in January. Adrs can be booked in April so plans will be tweaked then to fit in our adr plans around availability. |

We don't go until October 2019 but I've already been planning for the best part of 18 months! Finally booked our lovely DIBB villa yesterday, so now we are officially going!

Getting Excited
|
Been 3 times in 10 years, we normally go with the same friends and both the other female and I like to get things organised, so book the villa 18 months in advance, and the flights when we are happy with the price.
Hate to say, we have booked the same villa we have just come back from last week, for two weeks in 2020.

there is no option between 1 and 2. It's up to year or over 2.
1.5 years is my answer |
