As long as you don't charge anything to your room using your MagicBand, you should be ok. They'll take out the initial $100 hold but nothing more because you won't add anything to your room account. So you shouldn't need to remove the facility - just don't use it.

Mind you, I say "should" because who knows what Disney will actually do. So maybe you're right in removing it.

Lol, you’re right. At this point who does know indeed? It’s like I didn’t know they intended to use the card I’d used to secure ADRs for incidentals without asking!

However, I’ll probably ask them to remove it anyway, and even change the card linked - you can’t have no card linked it would appear but this one has foreign transaction fees, which is fine when using it for ADRs as there’s no fee as long as you turn up or cancel. However, in the past when I’ve had magic band charging, there have been charges accidentally when I haven’t actually charged anything, e.g sever charging to card instead of DDP, tip charged to card when I’d left cash - these were easy enough to sort out previously but now could also result in an unwanted hold which is tying up funds I may want to use.

It’s fine if you use a CC for everything but rubbish if you use a debit card such as Starling (to avoid fees) or a pre paid currency card as it could mean a large chunk of your spends are unavailable for spending. In Dr.Js case he had 14 at one point.. if that’s 14 x 100 holds, that would be my spending for the entire trip that may not become available while I’m there - I couldn’t take that risk personally so I’ll be glad to know if you can remove magic band charging altogether.
