Virgin insurance basic or full
Virgin Car insurance question?
We’ve always gone full insurance but looking at the difference between full and basic that matters to us is the local state taxes and surcharges, what are these and generally do they cost much as the insurance goes up around £180 if we go full, we’re only going for a quick week this time so trying to keep costs down! |

A bit more info please. Is the car with a 'holiday' or is a stand alone car hire from Virgin?
Huge difference.

Hi its with virgin holiday flydrive where they give you the basic 3rd party ins as standard but charge around £180 for full, just seen it doesn’t cover my car though in the event of a crash so I’d better leave it and just buy the full ins for piece of mind with the amount of crashes we see every time we go😂

Wise words. You are right it's the State minimum so grossly under insured.
Have you done the maths of not having the 'free car' and going DIY with them or another company instead? Worth a look. What are your dates and car size needed?

Yeah we always shop around and look at flights only, this time it’s strictly a shopping and week away from the kids trip, just a cheeky get away in January as normally we go for around a month when we take the kids and Do the parks so trying to keep it low.
Going 11th jan to 18th virgin flydrive is coming in at £1220 direct from Manchester to Orlando with full insurance and suv, it was £1087 2 days ago when we should have booked it but now its gone up a few quid! We’ve booked our villa which has cost us £680 for the week but was hoping to get flights and car around a grand |

I know I was looking at London airports to see if it was worth the travel and costs but it’s not a massive saving by time we’ve paid fuel and parking costs, we only live ten mins away from Manchester so will get a lift to the airport.
Wish we’d booked 2 days ago when it was all coming up below £1100, we only held off as we was waiting to book our villa. Hoping virgin May drop them again soon or we’ll just have to pay the extra £120 from the original £1100 we priced at. We’re going to the Trafford centre later so might bob in virgin hol shop see what they can do but always found they was more expensive than anything we’ve ever booked😂 |

We always go for the top package, which came in handy a few years ago when someone reversed into us at Bahama Bay. When we took the car back to MCO and explained what happened, they just told us to park it up as it was all covered.

Although the basic insurance is useless the inclusive and Gold/platignuminsurance is exactly the same if you have an accident.
