The thing I don't understand about VTP is how it overrides the Avis numberplate scheme?
Do you have to ask them to turn anything off when picking up your car if you have VTP?

My guess is in my post #18.

Avis are the same as every other car hire company in Florida and charge on a toll by plate basis. Some Avis cars do have a transponder but it doesn't matter if it's on or off when you pass through a Sunpass lane.

The Sunpass link in my post #4 shows how Avis and the others collect Sunpass tolls

A lot of assumptions there
I just read that link that you posted and it said you are auto-enrolled with Avis, to be honest I hadn't seen your post about the VTP 'interfering' with the cameras, so thanks for that.

Loads of assumptions but something inside the bit of VTP thingy that you hang from your mirror must trigger something in the overhead gizmo to charge $1.75 for instance to your CC that you lodged with VTP. Equally the interaction between the "thingy" and the "gizmo" must tell some "doodah" not to take a photo of your plate so preventing Sunpass being enabled.

You can tell I'm fully au fait with technical expressions.

PS

This is a screenshot of the eastbound toll plaza on the Osceola Parkway just short of The Loop.

You can clearly see the "gizmos" and "doodahs". You obviously can't see the VTP "thingy" as I guess the Google Maps car wasn't equipped.

Hope all the thingys and gizmos work well for you. Maybe you can pop back on later and share your experiences.

Hi so how much is it if you went through 6 tolls in total is it about the same as paying cash if so it’s a no brainer.
Also were do you hang the toll pass is it on your rearview mirror facing it towards your front windscreen

In our experience tolls range from $1 to $2.50 so it depends where you are driving. According to their web site they say you get a small discount on the paying cash rate but they don't seem to quantify it.

Their FAQs say hang it either way round from the rear view mirror

I think like others, I'll just give it a go!
Worst case is I get charged twice but the VTP site has a contact number for if that happens. It's obviously a new system so there may well be teething problems.
