Depending on where you are staying, it might be a similar distance to Lakeland Square Mall just off the I4 on the way to Tampa.

Yeah it is good, we found it was good for bargains in Abercrombie/holister but not much else... Mall at Mallenia is my fave too!

well, it's good if you're looking for a quieter place.
if you're looking for bargains, you need to factor in the drive time, petrol (even if cheap in the US) and the overall time. At the end of the day, you may save some money (not guaranteed) but it will have cost you more overall (time+money) so, if you're going to get out of the "theme park area" crowds, then it's an option if it's for the bargains only, stick to the outlets in the USF, MCO, WDW triangle, you will pay a few cents more at the store, but you'll get them back in other ways. we've also found nice stores and good prices at the Loop, (john young pkway & osceola pkway) and that's the place we now go. for the last couple of years, we still went to Florida Mall, but didn't buy anything there, and probably wouldn't have bought anything at Altamonte (same stores basically) |

We always visit Altamonte Mall. It is definitely less busy than the outlet malls and we have found some real bargains over the years.

It is similar but smaller than Florida mall, very similar shops. There are very few tourists and it tends to be much quieter except at the weekend when I think all of Altimonte descends.
