Car hire collection, BA fly drive

Hi we’ve booked a fly drive with BA. I’ve already got a BA loyalty card but can anyone tell me what I now need to do to be able to just go straight to the garage and collect the car? Do I need to link my BA and Avis accounts together in some way? Thank you

You need to register for Avis preferred if you haven’t already, then call BA and give them your Avis Preferred membership number and they should link the bookings. Then you should register your driving licence and credit card on the Avis website or App in advance which will save you time at the airport.
For your first booking you can go straight past the main desk at the airport and straight to the garage. Your name won’t be on the board for your first booking. You will have to go to the booth in the garage and they will want to look at your driving license and credit card to verify they are valid. They will then give you the keys and direct you to the bay with your allocated vehicle. With Avis preffered you automatically get your spouse included and there is no need to register them, and as part of the BA executive club you can have another additional driver, who will need to produce their licence at pick up.
If you have any bookings with Avis in the future, and as long as your card and license details are still valid, your name will be on the board and you can go straight to the indicated bay with the keys in the vehicle.
When you drive out you will need your card again at the barrier and you should check that the total is Zero and there are no extra charges.

Thank you, that’s most helpful. I’ll get all that done & go straight to the garage.
